John H. Kunz Jr.
1955 – 2015

WEST SPRINGFIELD – John H. Kunz Jr., 59, of Frederick Street died Monday at home surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Farmingdale, NY son of John H. Kunz Sr. and the late Winifred (Schwarz) Kunz. While working for MassMutual, John received his Bachelors of Arts degree from American International College and Masters of Arts degree in English from Westfield State University. After retiring, he pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. He taught English at Holyoke Community Charter School. He enjoyed photography, hiking and reading. His favorite author was William Faulkner and favorite novel was "The Great Gatsby." John leaves his loving wife Sandra (Brown) Kunz; daughters Jessica Menard and her husband Steve; Adrianne Kunz; and Lori Kunz and her husband Noah. He also leaves his sister Ellen Posson, and his father John H. Kunz Sr.; beloved grandchildren Charlotte, Liam, Jayden, Calvin and Dylan; brothers-in-law David and Allen Brown and his mother-in-law Dorothy Brown. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Saturday at 2:00pm. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral home service on Saturday from 1:00 – 2:00pm.
