John J. Lavin III of Feeding Hills, MA passed away on Friday, January 26, after a long-fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Judith, of 41 years, and three children: Sean Lavin, and wife Monica, of Feeding Hills, MA; Bryan Lavin, and wife Danya, of Mansfield, MA; and Lindsie Lavin, of Longmeadow, MA. Additionally, he is survived by his in-laws, Emmett and Phyllis Thomas of Bomoseen, VT; his brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Debbie Thomas of Belchertown, MA; and his siblings, Susan Larese; Patrick and Michael Lavin. Born on January 16, 1954, John was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School. After working many years for Phillip Morris as a Unit Manager, he retired to his part time job at Balise Honda. He enjoyed golfing and could always be counted on for sound advice, a dry sense of humor, and a strong stance on politics and sports. Calling hours will be held at Curran-Jones Funeral Home in Agawam, MA, on Thursday, February 1, from 4-6:30 PM, followed by a short service.
