John H. Magni
1956-2016

West Springfield- John Howard Magni, 60, of West Springfield passed suddenly of heart complications on Friday, June 3, 2016. John was born in Springfield on April 18, 1956 son of John and Shirley (Schmidt) Magni, formerly of West Springfield who now reside in Eustis, FL. John is survived by his wife of 27 years Linda (Antaya) Magni, two sons, who he was most proud of, Ryan S. and Brandon L. Magni of West Springfield. He also leaves four brothers, Bob and his wife Linda of Ridgefield, CT, Louis and Janet of North Chester, Dan and wife Donna of Nashua, NH, Joe Magni of Eustis, FL and a sister Debra Magni and Jeff of Chicopee. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. He was a machinist at A.G. Miller Precision Metal Fabrication in Springfield and had been an employee of Digital Equipment in Westfield, an animal control officer in Springfield, and worked with his dad as an animal control officer in West Springfield. He served in the United States Army as a Police Officer. John enjoyed doing timekeeping at all the local skating rinks, was an avid Patriots, Bruins and Red Sox fan, but his favorite games to watch were always those of his two boys. He remained a member of the West Side High School Baseball Booster Club and was responsible for making the foul poles at the West Springfield High baseball field. John also played men's and coed softball. His sense of humor and quick wit will be sadly missed by all. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral home Friday, June 10th at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 10:00am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
