John David Magoon, 62, died unexpectedly at home on May 12, 2020. Born in Adams, MA on September 20, 1957, he was the son of David and Alice (Evans) Magoon and most recently resided in West Springfield, MA after many years of living in Westfield and South Hadley, MA. He attended the Westfield, MA public schools and was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, ultimately achieving a Master's Degree in Business Administration from American International College. Throughout his adult life, John worked for the company his parents founded: University Products, Inc. of Holyoke, MA, serving as President until his retirement in 2015. John lived a full life. He enjoyed skiing, swimming, golfing, family trips and vacations to Cape Cod, Florida, and Maine, and was an avid fan of New England sports teams. For 36 years, John was married to his former wife, Kathleen (Zochowski) Magoon of South Hadley, MA and together they raised two children. John will be forever missed by his children, Chelsea and her husband Scott May, of South Hadley, and Dylan, also of South Hadley. John was predeceased by his parents, sister Deborah Magoon Upchurch and his brother-in-law, Matthew Zochowski. John leaves behind his brother, Scott Magoon, and his wife Lauren of Lyme, CT, and nephews Cooper Magoon, Seth Magoon, Ryan Magoon and Chazz Upchurch. He also leaves behind his extended family in Vermont. All services will be private, with burial in Dummerston, Vermont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holyoke Medical Center.
