Obituary

John A. Morassi, Jr., 90, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.  Born in Agawam, son of the late John and Rose (DeChristoforo) Morassi, he was a lifelong resident of Agawam and a 1953 graduate of Agawam High School.  John worked for twenty-seven years as a sales representative at Sweet Life Foods, retiring in 1990.  He was an avid shooter and member of the Agawam Rifle Association, an army veteran of the Korean War and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.  He leaves his wife of sixty-two years, Rosalie B. (Colca) Morassi, a son and his wife, Michael J. and Anna M. Morassi of Agawam, a son-in-law, Mark LaMotte of Agawam, five grandchildren, Anthony Morassi, Marissa (Morassi) Ferrentino and her husband Alfonso, Christopher Morassi, Andrew LaMotte and his wife Rachel, Brian LaMotte, three great grandchildren, Gianna, Michael, and Cora, and a brother-in-law, Patrick Colca and his wife Lori of Enfield.  He was predeceased by a son, Anthony Morassi in 1965, a daughter, Deborah A. LaMotte in 2016 and four brothers, Al Morassi, Michael Morassi, Ed Morassi, Sal Morassi and a sister, Anna (Morassi) Krolicki.  Calling hours are Friday, December 27, 2024, from 9am to 11am at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by a Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 11:30am. The burial will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
