John J. Schuh

1944 – 2022

West Springfield – John Joseph Schuh, 75, died peacefully Sunday, September 24 ^th at home with his wife by his side.  John was born in Bronx, New York and lived in New Jersey before moving to West Springfield in 1977.  As a veteran of the United States Navy, John put his life on the line when he sailed on the U.S. Essex Aircraft Carrier off the coast of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Russian missiles were aimed at the ship and the United States of America. After completing his military service, John returned to New Jersey and met his future wife, Irene Presz, whom he married at St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Saturday, January 1, 1977.  He received his associates degree with honors in Electricity from Holyoke Community College and later worked for Colebrook Realty, retiring after 20 years.  He leaves his wife Irene (Presz) Schuh and a sister Rita Holtz.  The committal service with military honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at 10:00am.  The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
