John Walsh

1931 – 2018

FEEDING HILLS – John "Jackie" Walsh, 87, died Tuesday in Baystate Medical Center.  John was born in Castlegregory, County Kerry, Ireland, grew up in Ireland before coming to the United States in 1957.  He worked at New England Container for 31 years and retired from Southworth Paper Company in 1989.  He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Feeding Hills and a longtime member of the John Boyle O'Reilly Club in Springfield.  His first wife Margaret (Gaughan) Walsh died in 1980.  He leaves his wife Helen (LeBlanc) Walsh; three children Sean Walsh, BettyAnn Lusty, her husband Roger, Maureen Kivel, her husband Brian; stepson Mark Nadeau, his wife Sandy, two step-daughters Susan Christian, her husband Mark and Karen Nadeau; two brothers Thomas and Patrick Walsh; and his sister Mary Finn.  He also leaves five grandchildren Matthew and Nicole Christian, Shane, Brenna, and Keely Kivel as well as several nieces and nephews.  John was predeceased by his siblings Mickey Walsh, Bridie Moynihan and Helen O'Connor.  The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday at 9:00am with Liturgy in Sacred Heart Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Michael's Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 557 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104 or to Sacred Heart Church, 1061 Springfield Street, Feeding Hills, MA 01030.
