WEST SPRINGFIELD – Joseph L. Cerpovicz, 78 passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 after a brief illness. He was a teacher and Supervisor of Industrial Arts for the Chicopee Public School System for over twenty-one years. "Big Joe" was a life member (52 years) of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks #1849 and the Chicopee "Dodger's" Athletic Club. He served stateside with the United States Army during the Korean War. He leaves his wife Nellie L. (Sullivan) Cerpovicz; daughter Laurene R. Germano and her husband Daniel of Glen Allen, VA; two sons Joseph L. Cerpovicz Jr. of Chicopee and David M. Cerpovicz and his wife LeeAnn (Fleming) of West Springfield. Joe "Pillow Man" also leaves three granddaughters Chelsea R. and Miranda K. Germano and Alexandria F. Cerpovicz. A committal service will be held at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 10:00am. The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 264 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104.
