Obituary

Joshua F. Thielen, 44, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by family.  Josh, a loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend succumbed to medical issues within a matter of several terribly difficult months. Born in Holyoke, he was raised in Montgomery, MA.  Josh attended Gateway Regional High School, where he achieved the honor of All Western Mass in soccer, basketball and golf.  Josh graduated from the Mass College of Liberal Arts, Cum Laude. He held many records in their basketball program, was recognized as a league All Star and was invited to a professional basketball camp in Utah.  He also loved golf and was a gracious winner while always accepting losing as a possible result.  He just loved competition.  Only his grandmother may have been as talented an athlete.  Josh held many positions in various business industries since graduating college and most recently was a freight broker for Integrity Express Logistics. He had stock broker and real estate licenses and helped organize and grow a mortgage company.  Josh's greatest love was his family and he adored his wife and caring for and spending time with his five children.  Josh will be fondly missed for his optimism, tenacity, and love of life.  He leaves his wife, Ashley (Walsh) Thielen, his children, Maya Thielen (12) and Avery Thielen (9) both of South Hadley, Emrys Thielen  (4), Carys Thielen (1), Cade Thielen (2 months) all of North Granby, CT, his mother, Jane (Roenke) Thielen of Montgomery, his father and step-mother, Albert and Joyce (Znoj) Thielen of West Springfield, two brothers, Matthew Thielen of Miami, FL, Ernie Thielen of Westfield, a step-brother, James Korbut of West Springfield, a step-sister, Sarah Korbut Gallo of Robbinsville, NJ, his former wife, Cynthia (Fesko) Thielen of South Hadley, and many nieces and nephews.  The calling hours will be Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 1-4 pm at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by a service at 4pm . The burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the go-fundme page to help defray medical expenses and educational expenses for Josh's children ( https://gofund.me/f47c1f45 ).  For online condolences, please visit www.curranjones.com .
