Joyce A. (Bigelow) Lynes, 73, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 28, 2017 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Holyoke, daughter of the late William and Viola (Atkinson) Bigelow, she was a lifelong resident and a 1961 graduate of South Hadley High School. She received a business degree from Holyoke Community College. Joyce had been a legal secretary in the 70's for Lyon Curly Scully & Fitzgerald. She then worked for the Town of South Hadley for over twenty years as secretary to the Superintendent of Schools and retired in 2013 as the business manager for the South Hadley Department of Public Works. Her love for the town of South Hadley led her to be a town meeting member. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church, the Ladies of the Oriental  Shrine and an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Joyce's family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Baystate Cancer Center for the wonderful care that was given to her. She leaves her husband of fifty-four years Robert W. Lynes, three sons, Robert W. Lynes, Jr., Kenneth G. Lynes, Jeffrey D. Lynes all South Hadley, three grandchildren, Sean Lynes, Megan Lynes and Kaitlyn Lynes and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday at 11am at the CURRAN-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 33 Lamb Street followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7pm.
