Longmeadow – June Peterson, 90, died peacefully Saturday March 16 th in a local nursing home. She was born in Westfield, MA to Vernon and Lillian Rix. After graduation from Westfield High School, Class of 1946, she attended and graduated from Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, MA. June married her high school sweetheart James E. Laramy in 1951. They resided with their children in West Springfield, MA and later moved to Richmond, MA where James passed away in 1970. She worked for many years as a legal secretary in Springfield and Pittsfield MA. She also took on the task of Tax Collector for the Town of Richmond for a few years and was the office manager for a time at the Green Meads Morgan Horse Farm in Richmond in the mid 1970's. June and her second husband Charles A. Peterson (who passed in 2002) spent most of their retirement years in Boynton Beach, FL , enjoyed many trips to the coast of Maine, and took delight in multiple cruises around the world. She returned to Massachusetts in 2009 to be close to family. June was an avid bridge player and loved to spend time at the family cottage on the Reservoir in East Otis, MA with relatives and friends. Surviving are her son Jeffrey B. Laramy and his wife Carla of East Otis, MA; her daughter Jill A. Koste and her husband Wolf of Colchester, CT; her sister Karen R. Schoenrock of West Springfield, MA; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Besides her two husbands, June was predeceased by a brother Bruce Rix. A memorial service will be private. Visiting hours will be held Saturday from 11:00 – Noon at West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home. For more details please visit curranjones.com. A private cremation burial will be held at the convenience of her family in the Richmond, MA cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association ( www.alz.org ).
