Justine M. Wajda
1932 – 2016

Holyoke – Justine M. (Morin) Wajda, 83, entered into eternal rest Friday at Holyoke Medical Center. Justine was born in Lawrence, MA, daughter of the late John and Eglantine (Riopel) Morin. She grew up in Chicopee and has lived in Holyoke for the past 50 years. Justine attended the former Holy Name High School in Chicopee and was a communicant of the former Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary Church, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann. She was a hairdresser for over 65 years, starting out at the former Gilberts Salon in Holyoke and then opening "Justine's Coiffures" out of her house on Arthur Street, where she was still serving her customers up until only a month ago. She and her husband especially enjoyed vacations with their family and grandchildren. Her husband of 52 years Mitchell F. Wajda died in September of last year. She leaves her daughter Michelle R. DeFranzo and her husband Robert of East Granby, CT; three grandchildren, whom she adored, Ryan, Hannah and Nicholas DeFranzo; a sister Rose Morin of Enfield, CT; many loyal customers over the years and dear friends. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister Emma Morin. Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Thursday at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 1103 Springfield Street, Feeding Hills followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
