Karen L. Mitchell

1957 – 2018

West Springfield – Karen L. (Childs) Mitchell, 61, died Monday, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.  Karen was born in Springfield the daughter of the late Allan and Cynthia (Quinlisk) Childs.  She grew up in Feeding Hills and has lived in West Springfield since 1982.  A graduate of Agawam High School, she worked as a self-employed hairdresser for many years.  Karen also was a Reiki Master and had a passion for astrology.  She leaves her husband of 20 years George E. Mitchell; two sons Joseph Boucher, his girlfriend Meghan Mazzaro and Kyle Boucher and his fiancé Chelaine Athas.  She also leaves her sisters Kim Gelinas, Roxann Ieraci, Joanne Askins, and brothers, Allan Childs Jr., Thomas Childs and Christopher Wood.  Besides her parents, Karen was predeceased by a sister Lynn Wright.  Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday, June 1 ^st from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the West Springfield Firefighters Permanent Relief Association
