Katherine "Kitty" Young, 98, of West Springfield passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020. Katherine was born in West Springfield to the late Antonio and Francesca (Rosetti) Zerra. Kitty was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Young, her siblings, Philomena, Vito, Joseph, twin brother Genere, her son, Joe Jr. and her great granddaughter Christina. She is survived by her loving children, John and Elaine Young of West Springfield, Robert and Carol Young of Wilbraham, Mary and Donald Burroughs of Enfield, CT, James and Deb Young of Chicopee, Susan Raff of West Springfield, William and Maureen Young of West Springfield, and Alfred Young of West Springfield. Katherine was hard-working and brilliant, with an unmatched vocabulary and, even in her last days, was a master at Scrabble. Katherine was an amazing cook and was appreciated as such by her family. Kitty will be missed deeply by her grandchildren: Michael, Coreen, Matthew, William, David, Jennifer, Joseph, Mark, Robert, Christine, Miranda, Laurie, Charlie, Melissa, James, and John. She was also loved greatly by her great grandchildren: Mitchell, William, Colin, Ryan, Zach, Brianna, Jillian, Max, Lola, and Luciana, and great great grandson Zachary Jr.  there will be no calling hours. Service and burial are private. Curran Jones will be handing the arrangements.
