Kathleen M. Roy
1923-2014
SPRINGFIELD - Kathleen M. ("Kay") Roy, 91, died peacefully on December 20th in Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Springfield, daughter of the late Frederick L. Roy and Katherine (Lee) Roy. She lived in the Glenwood section of Springfield most of her life. Kay was a graduate of Classical High School and American International College. She was a retired teacher for the Springfield Public School system, having served for years as a dedicated teacher of French at Technical High School. Kay was a vibrant, active person with a variety of interests and skills. She enjoyed skiing in Vermont, golf, gardening, model trains, travel to Europe with friends, and excursions far and wide with her nieces and nephews. Invariably, those trips were made in a convertible, "with the top down." In addition to her parents, Kay is predeceased by her sisters, Mary E. Montori and Jeanne L. Ferriter. She is survived by her brothers, Joseph G. Roy, II of Stonington, CT and Frederick L. Roy, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, and by 20 nieces and nephews and their families. The family wishes to express their great appreciation to the staff of caring professionals at Heritage Hall North, the Homestead Unit, for their excellent and nurturing attention to Kay over the last several years. The funeral will be Saturday with a calling hour from 9:30-10:30 am at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Springfield at 11:00 am.
