Kathleen (Moynihan) Smith
1936 -2019

Springfield – Kathleen (Moynihan) Smith, 83, died Saturday morning surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen was born in Springfield, the daughter of the late Peter and Marguerite (Egan) Moynihan and has lived here her entire life. She worked with the Hampden County Sheriff's Department as the Executive Director of the Office of the Sheriff and Civil Process Division, retiring in 2011 after 36 years. She was a longtime communicant of Holy Name Church. Kathleen was an avid Red Sox fan. She loved Cape Cod, traveling to Ireland, the Holyoke Saint Patrick's Day parade weekend with the girls, and reading in the summertime in her backyard. Her husband of 51 years, Donald F. Smith died in 2012. She leaves her son David Smith of East Longmeadow, his wife Karen and her devoted granddaughter Molly; a brother Dennis Moynihan and his wife Kay and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Kathleen was predeceased by her siblings Walter and Peter Moynihan and Mary Dubuc. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday at 10:30 with Liturgy in Holy Name Church at 11:30am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. In lui of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Dubuc scholarship fund P.O.
