Obituary

Kenneth R. Ellis, 87, died Saturday at home. He was born in Waltham and has spent most of his life in South Hadley. He was a retired operations supervisor for AT & T and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Ken was active in the South Hadley Lions Club, was a lifelong member of the White River Junction Lions Club, a past District Governor of the Lions Club in Vermont and was received the Melvin Jones Award. He was a fifteen year volunteer for the Western Mass Elder Care and a longtime volunteer for the Council on Aging in South Hadley. He was predeceased by his wife Florence (Richards) Ellis in 2010. Ken leaves his daughter Deborah Smith and her husband Malcolm of South Hadley, his son William Ellis of New Hampshire, three grandchildren Matthew, Gregory and Jacqueline and three great grandchildren Mackenzie, Asher and Tanner. The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 am at the Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home followed by committal services with Military Honors at the Mass Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at 11 am.
