Lauren G. (Coulson) Simpson, 62, passed away on Saturday evening in Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Lauren was born in Springfield, the daughter of the late Erwin and Genevieve (Eames) Coulson. She was a 1970 graduate of West Springfield High School and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from the University of Massachusetts in 1974. Lauren worked for the West Springfield School System for 20 years. In addition to being a longtime member of Mittineague Congregational Church, Lauren was a very active member of the Labrador Retriever Club of Pioneer Valley. This past February, Lauren achieved her dream of showing her Norwich Terrier at the Westminster Dog Show in New York City. She leaves her husband of 25 years Robert Simpson; her beloved son Robbie of San Diego; her brother Dana Coulson of Orange; her sister Cynthia Nye of Burlington, VT; her sisters-in-law Joanne Burke and Laurie Simpson of West Springfield; her brother-in-law Bruce and his wife Donna of Waynesville, MO; and her sister-in-law Kathy Simpson of Durango, CO. She leaves her loving nieces, Taryn Barrett of Burlington, VT and Katelyn Nye of Milwaukee, WI, as well as many other special family members. She also leaves her canine children: Buca, Rose, Melody, Benny and Harmony. The funeral will be held at the Mittineague Congregational Church, Westfield Street, West Springfield on Thursday at 11:00am. A private burial will be in Paucatuck Cemetery. Visiting hours will be at the West Springfield Curran- Jones Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 7:00pm. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
