West Springfield-Lillian Smith Engle, 96, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 8, 2014. She was born November 12, 1917 in Holyoke. She was the longest continuous member of the First Baptist Church of West Springfield where she served in many capacities. She also served as a West Springfield town meeting member for many years. She retired as a food service assistant manager for West Springfield High School. Lillian was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Leslie H. Engle. She was a loving and gracious mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed by her daughters and sons-in-law Susan and John Godwin of East Longmeadow, Carol and William Teed of Enfield, CT and Gail Picchi of Westfield; her grandchildren John Godwin, Jessica and Alex Barba, Shana and Brandon Barhorst, Laura and Dreux Namnoun, John Picchi, and David and Laura Picchi; her step-grandsons Mark and Deborah Teed, David and Barbara Teed, William ll and Paula Teed; and thirteen great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service in celebration of her life at the First Baptist Church, 337 Piper Road, West Springfield on Friday, November 14, at 11:00 AM. The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, which Lillian helped to establish, or the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church, 337 Piper Road, West Springfield, MA 01089.
