Obituary

Lillian M. Alvaro, 95, passed away on July13, 2016 while a resident at the Arbors of Chicopee. She was the daughter of the late Josephat & Rosilda (Chenaille) Mathieu and grew up living in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, graduating from the Mt. Carmel High School. She lived in South Hadley for many years and was active in St. Theresa's parish. She also lived in Florida and North Carolina before moving back to South Hadley. Lillian worked for local doctors as a medical assistant and was active in the American Medical Assistant Association for many years including state president for four years. She enjoyed sewing, creating clothes from children items to wedding dresses; she also did many beautiful crewel and embroidery projects. She was married to Richard Alvaro who died in 2008. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Anita and Raymond LaBonte of Sebastian, FL, Eleanor and John Shea of South Hadley, her sister Eleanor Klepacki of South Hadley, and her son-in-law, Aime Laramee of Chicopee. She leaves 8 grandchildren, Raymond and wife Allison LaBonte, Michael and wife Maria LaBonte, Bettina Nadeau, Beth and Richard Laramee, Heidi and husband Steve Pike, Anita and husband Ron Carrier, Karen and husband Don Lavoie, fifteen great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She also leaves many nieces & nephews. Her daughter, Elizabeth Laramee died in 1980 along with her siblings Laurent and Ernest Mathieu and a sister Bernadette Lauzier. The funeral will be Monday at 9am from the CURRAN-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 33 Lamb Street with a Mass in St. Theresa's Church at 10, both in South Hadley. Burial in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee. Calling hours are Sunday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Compassus / Hospice Association, 15 Midstate Drive, Suite 215, Auburn, MA 01501, or a charity of your choice.
