Linda Lander Walter
1963 – 2016

Springfield – Linda Lander Walter, 52, died Thursday surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, Linda lived here most of her life. She graduated from Cathedral High School and later went on to achieve her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from American International College. Linda worked as a registered nurse in the Springfield area. She leaves her children Chantal Coughlin and her husband David Hollinger of Somerville and Thomas J. Coughlin III, his fiancée Colleen Geoghegan and her granddaughter Charlotte of Foxboro; her parents Joseph and Geraldine (Bruso) Lander of West Springfield; a brother Joseph Lander of Burlington, VT and was predeceased by her younger brother John Lander. Linda loved animals and the outdoors and had a unique way about her that was impossible to forget. She considered her greatest accomplishment to be her children, who she raised as a single mother. For most of her life, Linda battled with mental illness and in her later years struggled to overcome addiction. Her spirit lives on in our memory now that her physical suffering has ended. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Wednesday at 11:00am with private burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.
