May 24, 1940 – August 25, 2017
Lloyd Alan Deis, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on August 25, 2017. Lloyd, called "Laddie" by his close friends and family, was born in Old Forge, NY on May 23, 1940. He was predeceased by his parents Dorotha Una (Stark) Deis and Leroy Wakely Deis, his daughter Deborah Deis, and six of his ten total siblings. He is survived by his five children; Diana Diduck and husband Gerald of TX, Stacey Carse and her husband Joel of VA, Nancy Calenda and her husband Alex of RI, Matthew Deis of MA, and Kevin Deis and his wife Megan of CT, and his many grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Terry Lehnen and Lawrence Deis of NY and Jean Yamane of CA, and his former spouse Marcy E. Wilson of MA. Lloyd attended the Town of Webb High School in NY and afterwards joined the United States Air Force earning the rank of Airman Second Class. After honorably serving, he attended New York University where he earned his undergraduate degree in business. Lloyd had a long tenure in manufacturing and management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation in Westfield, MA. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics and would never miss a game, whether in person or on television. He maintained strong ties to the Adirondack region of New York and took great pride in being from there. Calling hours will be held at Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield, MA on Thursday Sept. 7th from 9:30 AM -11:30 AM. A funeral home service will take place at 11:30 AM followed by an interment ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, in Agawam, MA at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lloyd's name can be made to the Houston Food Bank or the Houston Humane Society for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
