Lois Louise
Hardina
October 17, 1935 – March 8, 2026
Lois L. (Bence) Hardina, 90, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 8, 2026 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in San Gabriel, CA, she lived in Agawam for over seventy-two years. Lois was long descended from the Greene family of Rhode Island who settled the Warwick area in the 1600's. Conservative estimates shed light on the fact that Lois Hardina changed over 29,200 diapers, prepared over 43,000 meals, washed at least 832,200 dishes for her family from 1955 to 2004. Of course, she loved getting away from that and clerked at and retired from Food Mart Grocery store where she engaged in endless conversations and tracked the lives of dozens of shoppers from the Agawam community. Her children knew her as "Radar Lois" for her uncanny ability to track them to any hidden gathering. Lois was a longtime member of the Agawam Hockey Mom's Association. She had attended Agawam Congregational Church and was a devoted caregiver to her daughter, Laura. She was predeceased by her husband, Alan L. Hardina in 2001 and a daughter, Laura J. Hardina in 2023. She leaves her children, Debra A. Hardina of Suffield, Paula S. Hardina-Knotts and her husband Douglas Knotts of Newton, Diana L. Hardina of Shelburne Falls, Alan Richard Hardina of Chicopee, eight grandchildren Matthew P. Morrissey, Michael A. Morrissey, Melissa R. Hardina, Alan R. Hardina, Jr., Casey Knotts, Zachary Knotts, Henri Hardina-Blanchette, Chester Hardina-Blanchette, and five great-grandchildren, Emerson Morrissey, Theodore Morrissey Cain McMath, Mabel McMath and William Morrissey. Calling hours are Wednesday from 2-5 at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by a Funeral Home Service at 5pm. The burial will be private.
