Louise R. Faits of Agawam passed away on Friday, November 8 at the age of 103 after a short illness.  She leaves two sons and daughter-in-law's: Paul (Fran) of St. Louis, MO, and Ed (Cathy), of Southwick MA and four grandchildren,  Clayton Faits,  Michelle Faits and Marcia Faits, and Tyler Faits.  She also leaves sister-in-law Mary Faits, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews.  Louise Faits was born Louisa Rosa Piacentini on August 30, 1916 in Springfield, MA, the 4 ^th of 8 children of Italian immigrants Masimo and Gelsomina Piacentini. Louise grow up in the "Hungry Hill" section of Springfield and attended Commerce High School.    During the great depression Louise left high school in the 11 ^th grade to help support her family.   To her regret, she was never able to return to graduate.  This left her with a strong belief in the value of education, which she passed on to her children and grandchildren.  In 1942 she met the love of her life, Harry Faits, of West Springfield, MA.   World War II delayed wedding plans. Harry joined the Army Corp of Engineering's Combat unit, fighting his way from Sicily to Austria, while Louise took a position as a bookkeeper for Gilbert and Barker, where she kept the production lines working efficiently,  making fuel pumps used in everything from fighter planes to tanks.  After the war, Lou stepped aside from her G&B job and married Harry in 1946 and started a family in West Springfield.  In 1960 they moved to Feeding Hills, where she raised her family, usually as a very busy working mom.  She worked at Buxton's, Breck, then worked as a Lunch Lady at Agawam High, and worked vendor stands at the Big E. Despite being a working mom for many years, she found time to be active in Sacred Heart Church, and her community in variety or roles, such as Scouting Den Mother and later served as an officer in the Agawam Senior Center.  After retirement, Louise and Harry enjoyed travel, taking frequent trips through the Agawam Senior Center and visiting family around the country. Louise and Harry share a blissful 46-year marriage until his passing in 1991.  Louise resided at her Feeding Hills home until she turned 96, then living at Heritage Woods Assisted Living in Agawam, where she walked a ½ mile daily and enjoyed playing cards, bingo and visits from her family.  The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Heritage Woods, all of whom she valued as close personal friends.  The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday at 9:00am with Liturgy in Sacred Heart Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.
