Louise E. Serra

WEST SPRINGFIELD-Louise E. Serra, 90, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at Mercy Hospital. She was born in West Springfield on Sept. 6, 1923 to the late Louis and Adelfa (Forni) Serra and was a life-long resident of that town. Louise retired from the Springfield Newspapers, now the Republican after many years of service. She was a member of the former St. Ann's Church all her life, a member of the St. Ann's Society and the Deadline Gang. She is survived by a sister Minnie Borgatti, a niece Barbara A. Santaniello, a nephew Richard A. Borgatti and his wife Lucia and many grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ida Serra and Florence (Finn) Ceccarini. She also leaves her good friend Angela Giorgi. The family wishes to thank Mercy Hospital for their excellent care. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. No calling hours.
