Luis Velazquez, 77, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 17, 2022 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, son of the late Cristobal and Julia (Figueroa) Velazquez, he moved to Springfield in 1969. Luis worked for over thirty years as a foundry laborer for H B Smith in Westfield, retiring in 1991. He loved traveling, especially going on cruises, dining out and he had a special love for his grandchildren. He was a former coach for the North End Little League and an active communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. He leaves his wife of fifty-one years, Carmen I. (Concepción) Velazquez, a son and his wife, Pedro L. and Kirstin Velazquez of Springfield, a daughter and her partner, Michelle Velazquez and Randy Housman of Agawam, two brothers, Herminio Velazquez of Orlando, FL, Ramón Velazquez of Hudson, FL, six sisters, Juanita Velazquez of Orlando, Carmin del Valle of Carolina, PR, Lydia Seijo of Trujillo Alto, PR, his twin, Ramonita Figueroa of Orlando, Antonia Velazquez of Rio Piedras, PR, Isabel Rios of Orlando, four grandchildren, Joseph C. Velazquez, Christopher J. Velazquez, Matthew Velazquez, Adrian L. Velazquez, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Friday, April 22, 2022 from 4-7pm at the West Springfield Curran Jones, 109 Main Street followed by a service at the funeral home at 7pm. The burial is private.
