WEST SPRINGFIELD – Lydia L. (DiFiore) Salina, 87, of Irving Street died Friday in a local nursing home surrounded by her loving family. Lydia was born and raised in Lawrence and has lived in West Springfield most of her life. She worked as a Dietary Aide for Mercy Hospital and Digital until her retirement in 1989. Her husband Louis F. "Pete" Salina died in 1991. She leaves two sons Mark S. Salina and Thomas J. Salina and his wife Susan all of West Springfield; a sister Esther Basile; three grandchildren Jeremie, Shannon and Louis and three great grandchildren Ethan, Caylin and Landon. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Wednesday at 11:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral home service on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00am. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
