Madeline R. Phetteplace
1924 – 2011

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Madeline R. (Langevin) Phetteplace, 87, formerly of Amostown Road died Sunday in a local nursing home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in West Springfield, graduated from West Springfield High School, and has lived here all her life. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and enjoyed bowling and playing Bridge. During World War II, she met her husband while serving with the Women's Army Corps. Her husband Paul E. Phetteplace died in 1975. She leaves four children and their spouses James and Barbara Phetteplace of Westfield, John and Louise Phetteplace of Ledyard, CT; Joyce and Robert Klett of West Springfield, and Janet and Mike Smola of Tyrone, GA. She also leaves a brother Lionel "Lee" Langevin of Greensboro, GA, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A private funeral will be held with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.
