AGAWAM – Manning S. Case, 93, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014 in the Holyoke Soldier's Home. Born in Orange, he was the son of the late Archie and Johnetta (Stewart) Case. He moved to Springfield and then Westfield and was a graduate of Westfield High School. Manning also graduated from the former Westfield State Teacher's College and then, after being discharged from the navy, he received his Master's Degree in Education from Boston University. He taught at Springfield Technical High School, Western New England College and retired as the Science Supervisor from West Springfield High School. His teaching career was from 1945 – 1985. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II attaining the rank of Lieutenant and was a commander of a Landing Craft Infantry, serving in the Pacific Theater Campaign. Manning was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, had a summer home in North Falmouth and enjoyed sailing. His wife, Eleanor F. (Hennrikus) Case died in 2012. He leaves two sons and their wives, Thomas M. and Nancy Case of Port Charlotte, FL, Stew and Michelle Case of Agawam, two daughters and their husbands, Margaret L. and John Reardon of Westfield, Ellen F. and Edward LaMagdelaine of Charlotte, NC, five grandchildren, Megan Connor, Thomas Case, Jr., James Tierney, Joseph Case, Shawn LaMagdelaine, and four great-grandchildren, Grace Connor, Jack Manning Connor, Julie Case and Amber Case. All services are private and the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home is in charge.
