Obituary

Margaret M. (Patuano) Battista, 66, died peacefully Thursday surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born in Springfield, grew up in the Six Corners neighborhood and moved to West Springfield in 1988. She worked as a para-professional for the Cowing School in West Springfield. Margaret was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and volunteered at the Cancer House of Hope. She was known for her extraordinary Italian cooking and her personality lit up any room. She leaves her husband of 36 years, Philip J. Battista; a son Philip Battista; daughter Gina Battista and two grandchildren Dominic and Isabella. She also leaves her brother Stephen Patuano, sister Anna Galarneau and her husband Ralph; nephews Nicco Patuano Jeff Galarneau and his wife Natalie and their daughter Ella; and a niece Kim Galarneau. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday, May 7 th at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Thomas Church at 10:00am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
