Agawam – Margaret Hayes Buckley, 66, died Tuesday in Baystate Medical Center after a brief illness, surrounded by her spouse and her loving family. Peg was born and raised in Springfield before moving to Agawam in 2000. She graduated from Cathedral High School and Trinity College in Vermont. A licensed radiology technician, she worked as a CT scan Technician for 37 years at Providence and Mercy Hospital until her retirement in January of this year. Peg was an avid golfer who played in the Thursday Night Golf League in Agawam. She loved to cook, and was known for her fine meals, which she prepared enthusiastically and shared with many a guest. She was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She had a gift for gardening, and was known for growing herbs, vegetables and flowers, last year winning a horticulture award from Longbrook Estates Condominiums. She was a member of the Irish Cultural Center of Western New England. She leaves her beloved spouse and soul mate of many years, Margaret M. Cahillane; her twin sister Mary Anne Buckley; two brothers Cornelius Buckley and his wife Patricia and Joseph Buckley and his wife Kathleen; three nieces, Kristina, Tanya, Veeka and a great nephew Maurice. She also leaves many friends and will be missed by each and every one. A memorial service will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Saturday, August 26 th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a private burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral home service on Saturday from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
