1937-2011
WILBRAHAM-Margaret Marie (Donohue) Girotti died Thursday at home. She was born in New York City, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Donohue and was raised in the Forest Park section of Springfield. Margaret was educated at Holy Name School, Cathedral High School and Bay Path College graduating with a degree in Medical Assisting and Secretary. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dr. William Girotti, three children and eight grandchildren. They are daughter Cynthia M. Schultz, her husband Philip and their children Peter, Theodore and Sarah of Wilbraham, daughter Mary Margaret Eldridge, her husband Edward and their children Ethan, Megan and Zachary of Douglas, MA and a son William Girotti Jr., his wife Kelly and their children Erin and Molly of Wakefield. Margaret is also survived by a sister Jane Botelho and her husband Frank of Victor, NY, a brother Francis J. Donohue and his wife Louise of Vestal, NY and numerous nieces and nephews. After college Margaret worked at the Mercy Hospital, then for Drs. Fisher and Hough in Springfield. After her marriage she lived in Baltimore, MD, Houston, TX and Fort Knox, KY. She worked in her husband's office and for Drs. R. White, G. Winn and J. Torchia for 16 years. She was a resident of West Springfield for 46 years, only recently moving to Wilbraham. She was a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and the Springfield Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends and spending time with her grandchildren. She was born on Valentine's Day and was a true sweetheart all her life. The family wishes to thank all those at the D'Amour Cancer Center who aided her in a five year struggle with Ovarian Cancer, especially Drs. Donovan and Meyers and Lynn Buley RN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baystate VNA and Hospice, P.O. Box 9058, Springfield, MA 01102-9058 or to the charity of ones choice. The funeral will be Monday at 9 am from West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by Mass in St. Thomas Church at 10 am. Burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
