Maria M. (Russo) Ravelli, age 88, passed away on April 4, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Civitanova del Sannio, province of Isernia, Italy, on May 8, 1935, to Giuseppe and Iole (Cipriano) Russo, she was the oldest of six children. In 1957, Maria (aka Dolores) began her married life with her loving husband of 34 years, Ferdinando Ravelli, in Alessandria, Italy. In Alessandria, Ferdinando would work as a prison guard, and Maria eventually would own and operate a dry-cleaning business.  An extremely hard-working and devoted wife and mother, Maria dedicated herself to raising two children while running a business and managing a household.  In 1981, Maria and Ferdinando would make the life changing decision to sell everything and move to the USA where she would be reunited with her parents and brothers in Western Massachusetts.  After moving to the US, Maria resumed her dry-cleaning career at Lapides and then Stephen Thomas Cleaners in Springfield. Maria would finally retire from dry-cleaning in 2005 to care for her mother at home until her passing in 2010. Maria loved to cook for her family and was known for making agnolotti around the holidays, desserts for her grandchildren, and providing more food on the table than anyone could possibly eat.  She also enjoyed spending time outdoors, family trips to Cape Cod, watching telenovelas, mocking her son-in-law's gardening skills, and enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino with her daughter.Predeceased by her husband Ferdinando Ravelli in 1991 and her brother Raffaele Russo in 1993, she is survived by her son Massimo and his wife Dr. Sandra (Bellantonio) of East Longmeadow, daughter Simona Derby and her husband Matthew of Feeding Hills; her sister Teresa Maurizio of Isernia, Italy; brothers Clorindo Russo and his wife Beatrice of Cleveland, OH, Claudio Russo and his wife Maria Anna of Springfield, Fernando Russo and his wife Rosemarie of Feeding Hills; two grandchildren Alex and Tatiana Ravelli; and many nieces and nephews.The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the hospice caregivers from Compassus and Visiting Angels who provided exceptional care and support.
