Obituary

Marie Louise (Rossmeisl) Aseltine passed away peacefully Friday evening December 2, 2022 at the age of 91. Marie was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of George and Gladys (Hohengasser) Rossmeisl. Marie was blessed to be the oldest child in a large and loving family. She leaves behind her brothers and sisters; George Rossmeisl Jr, Virginia Dagesse, Edward Rossmeisl, Esther Lines, Ruth Fields, John Rossmeisl, Sarah Maziarz, Marlene Czepiel, James Rossmeisl, David Rossmeisl, Linda Drozdowski, Philip Rossmeisl, Paul Rossmeisl and their husbands, wives and significant others. Marie was predeceased by her sisters; Gail Gonet, Barbara Krupienski, Doris Dahowski and Gladys Cowan. Marie was the devoted wife of Richard G. Aseltine for 68 years marrying in 1952. Marie was predeceased by Dick in December of 2020. She leaves her 3 loving children; Richard Groves Aseltine, Jr. and his wife Joan of New London, New Hampshire; Adele Marie Hardy and her husband Jack of Framingham, Massachusetts and Ronald George Aseltine and his wife Deb of Wilton, Maine. Her 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren will dearly miss her; Richard Aseltine III and his wife Courtney and their children Dylan and Connor; Robert Aseltine and his wife Victoria and their child Finley; Jake Hardy and his partner Susanna; Jason Hardy and his wife Gabriela and their children Paloma and Rafaela; Thomas Aseltine and his wife Sarah and their child Lena and Shelby Aseltine and her husband John Horton. Marie is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Marie was a graduate of West Springfield High School where she conceptualized and was chairperson of the first Mock Prom held in 1948. She was a graduate of Mercy Hospital and a skilled Registered Nurse at Shriner's Hospital and Bay State Medical Center. Marie enjoyed many hours as a caring and passionate Public Health Care Nurse. Marie and Dick built their home on Amostown Road in 1954. Being a good homemaker was a top priority for her. Marie's main focus was her family. She loved to cook and bake homemade breads, donuts, Boston Baked Beans, Suet Pudding, Boston Cream Pie, Angel Food cake, Pecan Pie, fresh vegetables from Dick's garden and many other traditional family recipes. Her other interests included playing bridge, painting, sewing, embroidery, and volunteering at church activities. Marie retired from nursing and with Dick by her side they enjoyed working together in the real estate market in their home town. Building the family cottage on Messer Pond in New Hampshire became their next focus and legacy. Landhuis is cherished as a summer July birthday celebration spot for family reunions. Lobsters, steamed clams, corn on the cob, root beer floats, fishing, swimming, puzzle making and cribbage kept everyone happy and content. Mystery rides with the grandchildren were also exciting. Trips to a museum around the corner or an educational adventure to Washington, DC gave Marie and Dick connections to their cherished next generation. We will all miss her dearly, and were fortunate to have her in our lives. May happy memories of Marie make you smile. She is now at peace and reunited with Dick.
