Obituary

Claire Brunet Barry, 95, born in Salaberry de Valleyfield, Québec, Canada of the late Delphis and Eugenie Brisson, passed on peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on November 8, 2014. Claire was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church and a Eucharistic Minister at St. John's, for local nursing homes and for the homebound in Agawam for many years. She was a life and active member of the Golden Agers, Women's Club, Guild, Pitch Club of St. John's, and the Tag Sale Chairperson for the Agawam Senior Center. Claire was also a chef at the former St. Joseph's Church Rectory in Springfield for many years. While in Canada, she was a public market owner with her husband baking fresh fruit pies and tourtières daily and was also a top sales representative for the Avon Cosmetics Company for many years. Most of all she was a very gracious lady, a very loving mother and a wonderful hostess and homemaker. She leaves her sister Marie Rose Rousse of Québec, Canada, her daughters Luce Hooper of Fair Oaks, CA, Denise Wheeler and her husband Donald and Gisèle C. Brunet all of Agawam, MA; as well as 5 grandchildren; Linda Padilla and her husband Rick of Folsom, CA, Lisa Laudato of East Longmeadow, MA, James Herd and his wife Mari of San Francisco, CA, James Laudato and his wife Kristen and David Laudato and his wife Felicity all of Agawam, MA, 11 great grandchildren; Jamie Padilla, Ilena and Alesia Burnett, Kyle and Sean Herd, Haley, Ryan and Mia Laudato, Ethan, Cassidy and Clara Laudato, and many relatives in Canada. She was predeceased by her husbands Joseph J. Brunet and Lawrence F. Barry (of Boston) as well as her son Michel R. Brunet and two sisters and two brothers from Canada. Claire's relatives and friends may call on Friday November 14th from 4-7 PM at the WEST SPRINGFIELD CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME, 109 Main Street. You are asked to meet at St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001, for a Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10. The burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield. Donations may be made in Claire's memory to St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam.
