WEST SPRINGFIELD – Marie "Mary" (DeSimone) Guiel, 90, passed Thursday surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Springfield, grew up in the South-end, and lived in West Springfield for the past 50 years. She is predeceased by her husband Sylvio D. Guiel and her 8 siblings Albert, Stephen, Ralph, John, Anthony, Virginia, Angelina DeSimone and Rose Ewing. She leaves her three loving daughters Maria Lombardi of West Springfield, Tina Guiel and Mark Kozlowski of Windsor, CT and Elizabeth and Joseph Kulig of West Springfield; and three grandchildren Michael Lombardi, Jr., Christopher and Joseph Kulig. Mary's life was fulfilled by her role of wife and mother. She was happiest when she was with her daughters. For many years she was a caregiver for her extended families children until she was blessed with her grandsons. In the early years, Mary enjoyed cookouts and pool parties with her family. She cherished the memories made during summer vacations spent at Hampton Beach and Old Orchard Beach. Later in life Mary enjoyed reading, listening to Italian music and watching Hallmark movies. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is at peace and reunited with her husband, family and friends who have passed. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Mont Marie Healthcare and Ascend Hospice for their compassion and care in keeping her comfortable throughout her final days. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday, March 3 rd at 12:30pm followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral Tuesday from 11:30am – 12:30pm. For more details, please visit curranjones.com .
