Marie Elizabeth
Mcdonnell
June 26, 1941 – November 19, 2025
Marie E. (Daigneau) McDonnell, 84, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born in Agawam, daughter of the late Edward and Maude (Bourdo) Daigneau, she was a lifelong resident. She has joined her husband, William R. McDonnell who was waiting for her since 2007 when he entered the Kingdom of Heaven. Marie was most proud of her family and loved them beyond life itself. She was the ultimate family get together planner. Everyday, her home would be filled with visiting family including children, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, sisters, in-laws and her brothers. She would cook fabulous food dishes and everyone would eat while playing cards, and other games. Every holiday was filled with lots of food and comforting family love. She loved country music and dancing. Over the last few years she was most proud of her grandson Jayden who is a professional ballroom dancer. She arranged visits to her home at Mont Marie nursing home from Jayden and his wife so they could dance for the residents. It was a highlight of their day when Jayden and Susanna performed and Marie would literally beamed with pride. Marie was a lunch lady for many years at the Agawam High School. She then worked at Buxton in Agawam for many years before a career at Ensign Bickford in CT from which she retired. She became a resident of Mont Marie in Holyoke 3.5 years ago where she made many friends. She loved the staff and loved trying to take care of all her friends. She loved playing bingo and winning! Marie's family would like to thank the entire staff at Mont Marie for their wonderful care along with all her dear friends. She leaves a son, Robert W. McDonnell of Agawam, two daughters, Donna M. and her husband, James H. Loomis of Feeding Hills, Kelly S. McDonnell and her husband Nathan Yell of Chicopee, five grandchildren, Deanna Leighty, Kristina Leighty and her fiancee Ronald Spafford, Kevin McDonnell, Kaylee McDonnell, Shawn McDonnell, five great-grandchildren, Jayden and his wife Susanna Leighty, Korey Towers and his fiancee, Alyssa Brothers, Koby Leighty, Koda Spafford, Lucas Rivera and a beloved niece, Pricilla "Puepy" Thornton. Calling hours are Monday, November 24, 2024 from 4-7pm at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by a Funeral Home Service at 7pm.
