Marie (Desko) Smyth, 75, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center.  Born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Boisselle) Sawyer, she was a graduate of Cathedral High School and a graduate of the University of Phoenix.  Marie had a Masters Degree in Education and was a teacher in the Agawam School System for over twenty years.  She retired in 2018.  She taught in the special education computer class at Agawam High School for which she helped pioneer. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, enjoyed spending time with her family and going to the beach.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Carl Desko and a granddaughter, Kennon.  She leaves her husband of forty-eight years, Kenneth R. Smyth, two sons and their wives, Kenneth R. and Shannon Smyth of Agawam, Timothy E. and Andrea Smyth of Enfield, a daughter, Tricia A. Marshall of Agawam, and six grandchildren, Madison, Lila, Taryn, Samantha, Cole and Macksen.  The funeral will be Friday at 11am at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street. The burial will be private. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7pm.
