Marilyn D. (Wilder) Loomis, 87, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Noble Hospital. Born in Montague, daughter of the late Frank and Rosa (Gerharz) Wilder, she moved to Agawam in 1956. Marilyn was a graduate of the Baystate Medical Center's nurse program and was a licensed practical nurse for twenty years at Baystate Medical Center. She was a 1947 graduate of Springfield Technical High School and previously worked at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance and was a member of the Girl's Club, a group of girls that all worked together. She enjoyed knitting and was a member of the Agawam Lioness Club. Her husband, James H. Loomis, Jr., died in 2008 and a daughter, Cheryl A. Velasquez died in 1982. She leaves two sons and their wives, Robert L. and Suzanne Loomis of Westfield, James H. and Laurie Loomis of Feeding Hills, six grandchildren, Lindsay Pease, Jennifer Capalbo, Megan Elterman, Rachel Loomis, Robert Velasquez, James Velasquez, three step-grandchildren, Kathleen LaCross, Karie Jewett, James Mikah, five great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. The funeral will be Friday at 8am at the AGAWAM CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7pm. Donations may be made to the Agawam Lions Club, Eye Research, Box 52, Agawam, MA 01001 or the Captain Charles Leonard House, 663 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
