Marion E. Bourque, formerly of Ohio Avenue and Falmouth Road in West Springfield lost her life from complications of COVID 19 on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. She was 100 years old. Born February 5, 1920 to Wilson B. and Lillian E. Lambert, Marion grew up in the Hungry Hill area of Springfield. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1937 and started a career at the Massachusetts Mutual Insurance Co. In 1942 she married Wilfrid J. Bourque of West Springfield and they spent time in New Mexico and Texas while he served in the United States Army. They settled back In West Springfield in 1947 where they raised their five children. Marion with her husband and son, Wilfrid J. Bourque, Jr. founded Cardinal Homes Inc. in 1971 and Bourque Real Estate in 1976 where she worked until she retired at 87 years old. Marion was longtime parishioner at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, and a longtime member of the Ramapogue Women's Club. Marion loved crocheting, playing bridge and especially jigsaw puzzles. In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by her husband, Wilfrid J Bourque, former West Springfield Selectman, her son Peter C. Bourque, two grandchildren, Kristin M. Johnson and Daniel T. Gleason and her brother Leonard Lambert. She will be forever loved and remembered by her children, Elizabeth Johnson McGarry and her husband Robert of Edina, Minnesota, Wilfrid J Bourque and his wife Cynthia, Kathleen A. Bourque and her husband Patrick Lawsure and Jeanne Gleason all of West Springfield and her daughter-in-law Harriet Bourque Bove of Rutland, Vermont. She was adored by her grandchildren; Stephanie, Patricia and Julie Johnson, Lisa Pellegrini, Brian (Katie) and Amy Bourque, Peter (Candace), Heather, Christopher (Steffanie) and Melissa Bourque, Eric (Holly) and Kelly Gleason and her step grandchildren Patrick (Lindsay), Ian and Kate Lawsure. Gigi will be dearly missed by her great grandchildren Curtis, Abigail, Andrew, Grace, Charlie, Emma, Nathan, Max, Vincent, Pierre, Madeline, Claire, Hugh and Liam. She also leaves her sister-in-law and best friend of 71 years Evelyn Lambert. Marion celebrated her 100 th birthday in February at a party given in her honor with all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family members present.
