EAST LONGMEADOW – Marion C. Packard, 96, died Tuesday in a local nursing home. Marion was born and raised in Springfield, and has lived in East Longmeadow for the past 10 years. She and her husband owned Bob's Bike Shop on Allen Street for 60 years. She also worked at the former Steiger's Department Store before retiring from Mercy Hospital in 1985. She was an active member at the East Longmeadow Senior Center and it's Choral Group. Her husband Robert E. Packard died in 1979 and her daughter Susan Yarkey died in 1991. Marion leaves a daughter Sally Packard Bechard of East Longmeadow; five grandchildren Michelle, Nicholas, Christine, Jodi and Jill and two great grandchildren Emerson Rose and Griffin Edward. The funeral will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Springfield Friday at 9:00am followed by burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Griffin's Friends or to the Dakin Humane Society. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
