Marjorie A. Greenough

1936 – 2018

AGAWAM – Marjorie A. (Magovern) Greenough, 80, died peacefully Saturday morning surrounded by her family.  Marjorie was born in Springfield, the daughter of the late John and Dorothy Magovern and has lived in Agawam her entire life.     A graduate of Agawam High School, she received her Teacher's degree from Westfield State University and taught at the James Clark Elementary School in Agawam for over 30 years.  She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Agawam and was a member of its choir.  She also belonged to the Rainbow Girls, Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Revolution.  She was a descendent of Emily Dickenson.  Marjorie leaves her husband of 57 years Clark Greenough; three sons Craig and his wife Kim, Scott and his wife Eva and Glenn Greenough; five grandchildren Collin, Laura, Kyle, Cassandra and Lauren and seven great grandchildren.  She also leaves her brothers Robert Magovern and his spouse Peggy, Charles Magovern and his spouse Florence, and Sister Reverend Mary Magovern Zimmerman and her spouse Reverend Roger Zimmerman, and was a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Over the years, Marjorie and Clark were foster parents to thirteen boys, including Ronald Richard, Normand Duquette, Daniel and Claude Godbout.  Besides her parents, she was predeceasd by her brother Jack Magovern and his wife Gwen.  The funeral will be held at the First Baptist Church, Main Street, Agawam Friday, October 5 th at 11:00am.  Visiting hours will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday, October 4 th from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.
