He was a recipient of the Hero Among Us for his work with foster care and adoption. Mark was an advocate in many ways throughout his life and career for at risk youth. He leaves his loving wife Melanie (Gunger) Mitchell; his sons; Chad and his wife Ryan Haille., Harry, Markus, Jaquan and Peter Mitchell, his daughters; Keisha Mitchell, Stephanie Taylor, Samantha Agundes and her husband Frank and Shilah Lopez; his grandchildren; Melanie Agundes, Alice Hernandez, Ava Mitchell and bonus granddaughter Kayla Ryan.
