Obituary

Mark S. Scagliarini

April 24, 1952 - May 24, 2026

Holyoke- Mark Stephen Scagliarini, 74, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence.  Mark grew up in Chicopee and was the eldest son of the late Renaldo "Pete" and Margaret (Barry) Scagliarini. Mark graduated from Cathedral High School, Springfield MA, in 1970. After high school he quickly began building a successful career.  He married Mary Connor in 1974, and as a Sales Rep for SC Johnson, they relocated with their young family to Clinton, CT.  Mark and Mary raised their four children in Clinton. It was here that he demonstrated the importance of hard work, community, giving back, and family to his children. Mark was an active member of the community as a member of the Clinton Jaycees, a youth coach, soccer referee, Clinton Rec Department and Clinton Youth Soccer Board Member. One of Mark's proudest accomplishments was leading the acquisition and development of the Indian River Recreation Complex in Clinton. A plaque recognizing his contributions and dedicating the turf field in his honor will long serve as a reminder to the community of his commitment to Clinton and the youth.  Some of Mark's best friendships developed during these years and they remained close until his passing. In 1986, Mark went to work as a Sales Manager for Pioneer Packaging, Inc. in Chicopee, MA.  Mark continued his successful career there, becoming Vice President of Sales, General Manager and eventually President and Principal. He loved the work, his customers, and most importantly all the employees that made this family-owned business feel special. In addition to his parents, Mark was predeceased by his fiancé Jill Shinners, brother David Scagliarini, and nephew John Scagliarini. Mark is survived by his former wife and friend Mary Scagliarini and their children Mark (Carie) Scagliarini – Franklin, MA, Matthew (Melissa) Scagliarini- Plymouth, NH, Stephen Scagliarini- Clinton, CT, and Meghan (Michael) Quilter- Dedham, MA. Mark truly loved all his 7 grandkids and relished the role of "Pop" to Connor, Gavin, Garrett, Lucian, Rowan, Anna and Nolan. They will remember their Pop for always showing up to their activities, for his crazy jokes and stories, special gifts, and love. Mark's life was also blessed with a special loving relationship with Jill's daughters Addison and Taylor Camossi. Additionally survived by his brothers Robert Scagliarini (Patty), and Michael Scagliarini (Pam), Uncle James Barry, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield, MA on Thursday, May 28th from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Thomas the Apostle Church for the Funeral Mass on Friday, May 29th at 11:00am.   For information and online condolences please visit curranjones.com.
