Marlene Drewski

WESTFIELD – Marlene (Eickelberg) Drewski, 87 passed away at home Saturday August 27, 2011. She was born in Remscheid, Germany the daughter of Otto and Lydia Eickelberg. At the age of 18 she met her husband Paul and after World War II she immigrated to the United States with her family. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marlene celebrated the Christmas season as her favorite time of year and also enjoyed interior decorating especially with fresh cut flowers from her rose garden. She was a supporter of animal rights and contributed to many other charities. In previous years, Marlene spent winters in Naples, FL, enjoying her time there with family and friends. Her husband of 61 years Paul Drewski died in 2006. She is survived by her four children; Rose Drewski of Southwick, Petra Gervais and her husband William of Southwick, Ronald Drewski and his wife Theresa of Plymouth, MN and Thomas Drewski and his wife Cynthia of Westfield. She also leaves her grandchildren Daniel Cavanaugh and his wife Shayna, Dianna Demers and her husband David, Elizabeth Schwarz and her husband Christopher, Pamela Gervais and her boyfriend, Matt Scaramozza, Kristen and Eric Drewski. Her great grandchildren are Daphne and Kerrick Cavanaugh. She also leaves a sister Renate Weber and a brother Rolf Eickelberg and his wife Margaret. Rolf gave generously of his time baking and preparing nutritious meals for Marlene. The family wishes to express its appreciation to her caregivers; Vida, Janina and Luda, who provided excellent care to both our parents in their last years. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday September 1, 2011 at Noon followed by burial in Paucatuck Cemetery.
