Longmeadow – Mary Elizabeth Coughlin, "Maybeth," 92, beloved sister, aunt, friend, died on April 22, 2020. She was born in Springfield, MA, to the late William and Mary (Gordon) Coughlin on February 5, 1928. Maybeth was a 1947 graduate of Agawam High School. She was employed in the Auditing Department for Sears and Roebuck in West Springfield for many years until her retirement. Maybeth was an avid bowler at Agawam Bowl where she was a top contender for her team. Maybeth also was a faithful communicant of St. Thomas Church in West Springfield, and she was a devout reader at daily mass at St. Theresa's in Agawam. Maybeth loved an outing or a trip with the family and was always ready and willing to help her family. May also enjoyed supporting her many nieces/nephews by attending many sporting events, concerts, and dance recitals. She will always be remembered for her easy-going agreeable spirit and her ever present smile. She was truly a gentle and kind soul who had deep faith. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Maybeth was predeceased by her sister, Christina Murphy (and her husband Harold), her two brothers, William Coughlin, and Ralph Coughlin (and his wife Joyce), and her nephew Brian Murphy. Maybeth leaves her loving sisters and caregivers Thelma Coughlin and Marjorie Murray. She also leaves many nieces and nephews; Ann Marie Murphy and her companion Dan Fraro, Harold Murphy, Cynthia Murphy, Dr. Judy Bram Murphy, Denise Coughlin, Dr. Kevin Coughlin and his wife Karen, Dr. Bret Coughlin and his wife Nina, and many nieces/nephews and grand nieces/nephews. A celebration of Maybeth's life will be held at a later date and time to be announced. The Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary Elizabeth's honor to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
