Mary Louise Garfield

Ailey, GA-Mrs. Mary Louise Garfield, 70, of 738 Browning Road, Ailey died early Saturday morning May 26, at her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Garfield was a native of West Springfield, MA where she lived as well as Springfield and Holyoke for many years before moving to Chester, MA in 1973 where she continued her nursing education by taking many courses and classes including business college classes for medical offices. She received her certification as a patient care technician while working at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, MA. She moved from Chester, MA. in March of 1996 to Ailey where she continued to work in the nursing field until she retired in 2003. She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Chester MA. She is preceded in death by one sister, Lorraine Antienowicz and one brother, Harvey Edward Perusse as well as her parents, Francis and Lillian Perusse. Mrs. Garfield is survived by two daughters, Valerie Gladwin of Las Vegas, NV and Charleen Bellinger of Chester, MA., three sons, Gerald Hill of Springfield MA, William Garfield of Boston MA. and Thomas L. Hill of Ailey, one sister Marguerite Bressette of Maine, 4 brothers Francis Perusse of New York, Donald Perusse of Jacksonville, Fla., Robert Perusse of Brattleboro, Vermont and Paul Perusse of Marlboro, MA. Mrs. Garfield is also survived by 5 grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 30, from 4-7 pm at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be Thursday May 31 at 10 am in St. Frances Church, 475 Main St., West Springfield, MA with burial to follow in St. Michaels Cemetery.
