Mary B. Green
1934 – 2011

West Springfield-Mary B. (Smith) Green, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Heritage Hall nursing home after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born in Paisley, Scotland on February 1, 1934 and resided in the Hungary Hill section of Springfield. Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her including her loving children, Joseph Green and his wife Sigrid Eyb-Green of Vienna, Austria, Margaret Cote and her husband Michael of Agawam, MA, Martyn Green and his wife Kathy of West Springfield, MA, Sarah Peterson of Arlington, MA, and Christopher Green and his fiancé Lisa of West Springfield, MA. Mary loved being with her family, especially her greatest joy, her ten grandchildren who have many cherished memories with 'Granny'. Mary will be missed by her sisters Isabelle, Sally, and Marion, and her brother Jack. She was pre-deceased by her sister Florence, and brothers Martin and James. Mary also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families whom she loved deeply. The family wishes to thank all who visited her over the past few months and the wonderful, caring staff who took great care of her during her illness. The funeral will be held Monday October 24, 2011 at 10:00am in Sacred Heart Church followed by burial in Agawam Center Cemetery.
