Mary Mattina

WEST SPRINGFIELD-Mary Louise (Riley) Mattina, 82, died Thursday at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield, daughter of the late Frank and Loretta (Bergen) Riley and has lived in West Springfield all her life. She was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas Church. Mary was predeceased by her husband Angelo Mattina in 2003. Mary was a dedicated volunteer at St. Thomas School, the West Springfield Middle School, Our Lady of Providence Children's Center and the Parish Cupboard. She leaves eight children, Mary O'Brien and her husband T.J. of West Springfield, Mark Mattina and his wife Mary of Lakeland, FL, Anne Mattina and her husband Jon Senecal of Hopkinton, Michael Mattina and his wife Elizabeth of Westchester, OH, Susan Mattina of Amherst, Matthew Mattina and his wife Sheri of West Springfield, Sandra Miller and her husband Joe of West Springfield and James Mattina of Framingham and her sister Margaret Taylor of West Springfield. She will be missed by her loving grandchildren Kate and Marty O'Brien, Brendan Mattina, Alex Temple, Sarah, Matthew and Grace Mattina, Riley and Gina Mattina, Luke and Nina Allen and Mark Senecal. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Church followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home will be Tuesday 4-7 pm.
