Obituary

Mary Ellen (Wagner) Morissette, 63, of Westfield and formerly of Agawam and Pittsfield, passed away on Thursday, January 19 th , after a long battle with MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome), a type of blood cancer. She spent her last moments in a Boston hospital surrounded by loved ones. Mary Ellen was born in Pittsfield, MA on November 23, 1953 and is survived by her mother, Florence Tarbell also of Pittsfield. Mary Ellen graduated from Westfield High School in 1971. She had been accepted into a nursing program but chose instead to start a family with her beloved first husband Daniel Mack. They were married in July 1971 and had two daughters, Jennifer and Lorelei. Daniel succumbed to illness in June 1982. Mary Ellen later married Lawrence Morissette and spent many years with him, until he passed away in April 1999. Mary Ellen spent the latter part of her life with her long time fiancé Glenn Seymour. Mary Ellen and Glenn spent much time together in shared interests, most notably in service to Veteran Organizations. She has held many titles and positions over her decades of service, including being a Past Department President of the American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to leaving behind her mother, daughters, and fiancé; she is also survived by her brothers, sisters, and grandchildren. Calling hours will be on Tuesday January 24 th , from 3pm to 5pm at the AGAWAM CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street in Agawam, MA. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) ( www.lls.org ) to further research in treatment of MDS and other blood cancers.
